聰明的烏鴉 (Gwyneth)

Good morning, ladies and gentleman. I’m number 7.
Welcome to my story about a smart crow, Mr. Crow.
Mr. Crow was a big black bird with a big black beak, and he lived at the top of a tree.

He was very smart. “There’s no problem you cannot solve if you take the time to think about it! Think about what you have around you to create the solution,” he would say.

Mr. Crow had solved a lot of problems. When he wanted to eat a juicy clam, Mr. Crow took the clam high in the sky and dropped it like a bomber on the ground to break it open. He solved the problem to enjoy the juicy clam.

“Go, go Mr. Crow, You’re the smartest bird we know!” chirped the Sparrow Sisters.

Nuts were more difficult for a crow to crack open, but Mr. Crow solved the problem, too. He dropped the nut in the road to let a car drive over it and crack it open. When the traffic lights turned red, he flew down to pick up the tasty nut.

“Go, go Mr. Crow, You’re so smart don’t you know!” chirped the Sparrow Sisters.

Then one day Mr. Crow had a problem he thought he couldn’t solve.

It was hot. And all the rivers, streams and ponds were dry. Mr. Crow was looking for some water to drink. He looked everywhere, but he couldn’t find any. He was so thirsty. After searching and searching, Mr. Crow finally found a bottle with some water in it.  He was so excited. He couldn’t wait to drink the water. But when he put his beak into the bottle, he couldn’t reach the water. There was only a little bit of water at the bottom.

“I can see the water, but I cannot drink it!” he said to himself. “And without the water I will die. This is a problem!” Mr. Crow looked everywhere around him and thought for a moment. As he was thinking, he saw some pebbles, i.e. small stones. He came up with a brilliant idea. He picked up the pebbles and dropped them into the bottle, one by one. The water inside the bottle began to rise and rise…and finally, he could drink the water. And so, thirsty Mr. Crow wasn’t thirsty anymore.

“Go, go Mr. Crow, You’re so smart don’t you know!” chirped the Sparrow Sisters.

“A problem’s not a problem if you take the time to think about what you have around you to create the solution,” said Mr. Crow as he enjoyed drinking the most delicious water in the world.

As you can see from the story, there are solutions all around you for all the problems. So happy solving problems like Mr. Crow.
I hope you enjoy my speech. Thank you for listening. Have a nice day.
